About 66 years ago, the couple met at a wedding as groom and bridesmaid. Now, the 95-year-old Margaret and her lover, 93-year-old Bernard, have finally tied the knot.
After Bernard's first wedding, the two met at Bernard's late wife's funeral. This happened six years ago. Gradually, love came their way after Margaret travelled 250 miles to meet Bernard, following the demise of his wife.
Having taken their vows as man and wife, the couple has become two of the world's oldest newlyweds, with a combined age of 188.
Margaret's first husband died of cancer 30 years ago, soon after his retirement.
\"We brought mum up for Bernard's late wife's funeral and he collared me afterwards to say he'd always had a soft spot for mum. It's great to see them together,'' Margaret's son Robert, who also walked her down the aisle, was reported as saying by HuffingtonPost.
The lovely couple's wedding ceremony was attended by friends from around the country, who came all the way to convey their best wishes to them. This time, Margaret's granddaughters Holly and Megan played bridesmaids for her granny.
